Veronika Peat (b. Moscow, 1978) is an interdisciplinary artist based in the UK. She works across moving image, drawing, painting and print media. Her practice explores her experience of displacement and adaptation as an emigrant to the UK and is concerned with cultural history, belonging and identity.
In film she uses the mode of documentary encounter to initiate an open process of intimacy, and draws in archival and appropriated visual, audio and literary sources - a form of feral archaeology, where the remembered and the interpersonal can be reimagined into new possible histories.
With drawn, painted and print media she works with figure and narrative, drawing on biography and cultural histories.
Veronika completed the postgraduate Drawing Year at the Royal Drawing School (2018), London, and is currently studying at Slade School of Fine Art, UCL, London.
