Veronika Peat (b. Moscow) is an interdisciplinary artist and filmmaker, living in the UK since 2000. Her work explores cultural history and personal identity, and the experience of migration, displacement, and belonging. She works with the documentary encounter to engage with people, places and the archive in order to excavate the sense of self – a process she terms ‘feral archaeology’. She uses a variety of strategies to transformed the actuality into fictional hybrid forms, writing in particular is used to carry a sense of voice – of the artist, of cultural memory and experience.
Veronika’s work has been exhibited in UK and international exhibitions and film festivals, including recently IFF Message to Man (Russia), Provinziale Eberswalde Film Festival (Germany), Teatr.doc (Russia), PADA studios (Portugal), Christie’s and Towner Eastbourne (UK).
