London. A Mexican/Indian family is preparing for the celebration of Día de Muertos. Their faces are painted as calaveras, ‘skulls’. The filmmaker, also an emigrant – Russian born, uprooted, disconnected from her country of birth by war, and now living in the UK – steps into the film to join in. A secret from the filmmaker’s past is entrusted to the viewer as we watch the transformation into calaveras.
